I painted this scene to capture the way a city breathes after rain—how the streets, still slick and shimmering, become mirrors for everything we build and everything we feel. Nightfall lets colors loosen their grip on realism, so I let them spill and glow, exaggerating the warmth of the lights and the coolness of the shadows until they felt almost musical.
The figures moving through the street aren’t portraits; they’re rhythms. Little pulses of humanity drifting through a world that’s too bright in some places and too dim in others. I wanted them to feel anonymous yet essential, like notes in a larger composition.
